The credentials were handed over today to the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, by the Ambassador of the Republic of India, Sanjiv Kohli.

On this occasion, President Vučić expressed his belief that Ambassador Kohli will make the traditionally good and friendly ties between the two countries, which are characterized by mutual respect and a high level of support in the most important areas, even more meaningful with his dedicated work. Recalling the strong relations built during the formation of the Non-Aligned Movement, President Vučić expressed hope that Prime Minister Modi would accept the invitation to participate in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of that Movement in October in Belgrade.

President Vučić thanked India for the solidarity shown during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically for helping us obtain vaccines developed by their Serum Institute in cooperation with AstraZeneca.

He also thanked for India's consistent policy and principled attitude to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.

Ambassador Kohli said that it was President Vučić who opened a new era in relations between the two countries, reminding that in 2017 he was in India as Prime Minister, which was the first visit of a high-ranking official from Serbia after thirty years.

He pointed out that he hopes for progress in mutual economic relations, noting the great economic progress of Serbia, whose experience can serve India as well.
